Scandal over route changes

Cologne - The transport policy ideas from red-green make for more excitement in the town hall. In light rail, they could become a billion minds expensive trip.
Red-Green decided to examine the transport committee for the North-South metro new routes. Instead of turning under the Bonn road and cross the Rhine above ground south bridge to street level, is the path of the Bonn road to the belt, then drive out into the Rhine. Committee Chief Karsten Möring (CDU), raged: "monkey business!"
SPD parliamentary group leader Martin Börschel sees the fault in the CDU and FDP: "They then voted by a majority, and against expert advice for the Südbrückenlösung."
The problem: Because the train above ground where the road crosses the Rhine, you must install a barrier. The result: all five minutes long barrier and traffic jams!
"Now, the CDU wants a car tunnel for the Rheinuferstraße, which can cost about the Südbrückenfundaments 100 million euros. And the route to the Rhine has gone up anyway, at 60 million euros compared to the planning, "said Börschel. "The citizens are still entitled to the consideration of alternatives."
Left Party parliamentary leader Joerg Detjen will agree not decide Börschel another solution but with only one vote. Even that is uncertain: "We wanted Bayenthalgürtel 2005. Thus, we could also extend the line 13. But we were outvoted by the SPD, CDU and FDP, "said Green parliamentary group chief Barbara Moritz. "For this solution, it is probably too late."
Experts from the City Council and KVB reject alternative routes: Takes too long is too expensive, they say. NRW Transportation Oliver Wittke (CDU) would then consider the funding commitments. If he draws it back, would come to the city of one billion euros more debt.
